Ok. So. It has been a little more than 30 days since my last post. Sorry for not following up. Stuff happens lol, but here it goes!
I'm going start by talking about my daughter first. She finished her boot camp, and she rocked! I'm so proud of her. She lost weight. She toned up, and she has adopted a healthier lifestyle. She is an inspiration to me.
Now, on to my journey. I did the Ripped in 30 workouts. I got up early 5 days a week for the whole month of October and did them. It was pretty good. I was feeling better and having more energy. Unfortunately, I can't say that I followed the meal plan. Therefore, I didn't lose any weight. However, I didn't give up! I continued to workout. I added more workouts to my routine. I've become Jillian Michaels obsessed! I just love her. I bought several more of her DVDs, and I mix them up. This keeps me from becoming bored, and it continues to challenge me. I love them!
I also (like my daughter) added Advocare to my regimen. I started with Spark, an energy drink which I think also helps with appetite control, and almost immediately started to see some weight loss. Then I added Amplify, and things started to roll. After the first of the year, I did the 24 Day Challenge and saw about 12 more pounds come off. To this date now, I have lost 28 pounds. I have more energy, sleep better, and just generally feel better.
None of these pics are either from the beginning or the end of my journey. Remember, I can't show you the ones from the beginning. I was in my underwear! But this gives you an idea.
And now remember this...my journey has no end. I'm still traveling and still working.

The Next 30 Days
I am embarking on a new adventure. For the next 30 days, I am committed to getting up really early and doing a tough workout and following a healthy eating plan in order to get "ripped in 30". Haha! Ok, so it's not really a new adventure, just a new version of one that I attempt on a fairly regular basis. Just hope I complete this one!
This began not only as part of my quest for better health and fitness (and a desire not to be "fat and fifty"), but also as a support for my daughter who is starting her own adventure. She is actually doing a bootcamp style program for the next 6 weeks. She is the brave one, and I want to give her some moral support. I have every confidence that she is going to be awesome in her adventure!
While Jessica is doing the bootcamp style workout, I am putting my faith in Jillian Michaels. I think she is awesome! I have purchased her new DVD called Ripped in 30. It looks to be pretty tough, and I'm sure that for my age and fitness level, it will be. I've tried some of her other workouts, and I just hope I can do these. Even if I can't do it all, I'm sure my heart rate will be up and I will be sweating!
Notice that I said "healthy eating plan" as opposed to diet. Diets don't work! But there is a 30 day meal plan that comes along with the DVD, and I am going to try to follow it as closely as possible. There isn't an abundance of organic options in my area, and some the brands she recommends are not available either. However, I think I can adapt it pretty well. We'll see.
For Jessica's program, they weighed and measured, and did an analysis of body fat and water & bone density. I think they may also have taken before pictures. I weighed myself on my scale that also does body fat & water density. Let's hope the numbers go down. I also took a before picture, but I was in my underwear in the bathroom mirror so that one is just for me!
I hope I get a good night's sleep tonight. I want to say good luck to Jessica, and I'm excited to see what happens in the Next 30 Days!

My Virtual Son!
So, my son Kell is 17 years old. He has this head of really thick curly hair. All the kids at his school (small school K-12) think he looks like Nick Jonas. All the boys give him a hard time, but the little girls are fans. After a playoff basketball game last year, one girl brought her camera and asked to take a picture with him. I think she had a big crush. He acts like this makes him mad, but I think he secretly likes it.
After learning about this last year, I began to sort of "research" Nick Jonas. I think I have to agree. There is something of a resemblance. Funny thing though, their personalities are a lot alike. I watched the show Jonas Brothers and thought...he acts like Kell. Or, Kell acts like him. This video of him is so like something Kell would do.
I also found out in my research that Nick Jonas is really a talented young man. I've become a fan! I've developed this sort of "motherly" pride for him. Kind of like he is my son, or my son really is him. Sort of strange I know.

Welcome to my blog page! I have on occasion posted a few things on MySpace, but this is my first actual blog page dedicated solely to that. So, this first blog is simply to let you know a little about me.
I've titled my blog "A Little Bit of Everything" because I'm a little bit random. A little bit of everything all rolled into one. That's from a song by Meredith Brooks. Pretty good song.
I'm married with five children. This is my second marriage. I have two children from my first, and my husband has three from his. But they're all "my" children...so, I'm married with five children. However, I can hardly call them children anymore. My daughter will graduate from Texas Tech in December. I'm so proud of her. The rest are boys...two Seniors, one Freshman and a Sixth Grader. They play football, basketball, baseball and run track. I have a full time job and currently carrying a full load of college courses online. Yes, I stay very busy.
I like sports...basketball is my favorite...and all kinds of music. I'm enjoying my classes, but they are very time consuming. But most things worthwhile are. I don't watch much TV, but I make a point to watch "Dancing with the Stars". I'm not sure why I like it so much. And, I secretly watch "Jersey Shore" with my boys while I'm griping at them for watching it and telling them how inappropriate it is. Oh, and "Family Guy" too. Oh well! I also like movies but seldom take the time to watch them. All this contributes to my randomness.
Now, I'm going to randomly end this blog and hope to be more inspired next time.
